Bodhi Linux 6.0 Released, What’s New

A new version of Bodhi Linux Is available to download, based on Ubuntu 20.04.2 point release.
Bodhi Linux 6.0 has a commendable crop of changes, along with offering a new version of the Linux kernel. It includes the district’s exclusive Moksha desktop, plus important bug fixes, theme tweaks, and more.

Bodhi Linux 6.0: What’s New?
Bodhi Linux may not be a ‘headline’ distro, but it has a solid following among Linux users who appreciate its marriage Low system requirements And a highly configurable user experience. Moksha Desktop is the real star. This informative derived stack of window managers, modules and applets combine to create a fully functional user experience with a unique look and feel.
Bodhi 6.0 is the latest stable release and is built on top of Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS. But don’t mistake it as an Ubuntu-Litti distro: Bodhi is its own separate thing. In fact, there are some major differences with upstream Ubuntu (and related offshoots).
Thunar is the default file manager In this release, PCManFM replaces. This is a change I can leave behind because Thunner is an increasingly familiar file browser that has all the main features. Bodhi Devas have banded together in support of salvation, such as being able to set a desktop wallpaper from the right-click context menu on a compatible image file.
Chromium is the default web browser In Bodhi Linux 6.0, replaces Mozilla Firefox (which is available to install). In particular, Bodhi does No Use a Canonium-made Chromium Snap (which if you get) apt install chromium In Ubuntu and Flavors.
Long-time Bodhi users will also be seen Scene change, Including a new animated desktop wallpaper, boot splash, and login screen. The ArcGreenDark theme boasts a fleet of refinements such as new animations, module themes and bug fixes.
Bodhi Linux 6.0 comes with a New notification gadget On the bottom bar (“shelf”). It serves as a hub for all information issues by the app and system, including history with timestamps. Clipboard The module chooses additional options, including ‘neglecting to add clipboard content to the history’.

So what is Bodhi Likes? Well, it’s different – but in a good way.
If you’re used to GNOME, Xfce, et al, you’ll have no problem with salvation (which can happen when switching to a keyboard-driven UI like the i3). The single panel layout works well, and while the app menu is basic it is much more complete.
You can open “Quick Launcher” by pressing ctrl + alt+ space anytime. This is extra work when you don’t know a particular setting (because Moksha is largely a modular desktop where there is no real “one stop config panel” like GNOME.
To better take advantage of screen space, the distro automatically attaches itself to the tiles (most) of the windows by the distro. The scaling option allows the desktop to work great on high-resolution screens (I tried it at 4k) although some apps, such as Chromium, just do their thing.
Like the KDE plasma, with salvation some “gadgets and modules” you can use can be transferred from the panel (called ‘shelf’), and vice versa. In this screenshot I moved the analog clock widget from the desktop to the panel, and switched it to show in ‘digital’ mode:
Avid distro hoppers will want to check out the salvation out there looking for something different to the standard DS with something fishy. It’s a finely tuned UI that has more flex than before, and while the ‘gadgets’ aspect isn’t quite as cinnamon spices and plasma Apple, it has a lot to play with.

Bodhi Linux 6.0 is available for download as one of three separate versions:
- Linux 5.4 standard with kernel
- Linux 5.8 standard with HWE kernel
- App pack with linux 5.4
- A lightweight 800 MB download, this version ships with a small set of pre-installed software Chromium Web browser, Leafpad text editor, Glossary Terminal emulator, and Iphoto Photo manager
For a less sophisticated “out of the box” experience you can download the ‘App Pack’ version. This build is twice the size of the standard, with just over 1.6 GB clicking on it, it contains a lot more software, including full Libre office Suit, Vlc, brave, Stringed tape, peanut, 15+ salvation themes, and additional system tools.

Note that VirtualBox guest additions are not pre-installed on any of these ISOs. If you plan to try Bodhi 6.0 in VirtualBox, you might want to install Ubuntu Repose after installing to unlock the extended / expected functionality.
